The Weinstein Company‘s Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters has added the final pieces to its casting puzzle.
Modern Family‘s Sarah Hyland and Vikings’ Gabriel Byrne will now also be sinking their teeth into the movie based on the books by Richelle Mead. Byrne will play Victor, one of the leaders of the Academy while Hyland will play Natalie, Victor’s daughter and the best friend of the lead Rose and Lissa characters. Lucy Fry and Zoey Deutch have already been announced as Lissa and Rose.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Joely Richardson and Dominic Sherwood have also joined the film. Richardson will play Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi Vampires. Sherwood will be playing Christian, Lissa’s love interest. These latest cast additions come on the heels of the announcement last week that Sami Gayle (Blue Bloods), Cameron Monaghan (Shameless), Ashley Charles (White Buffalo) and Claire Foy (White Heat) had joined the ensemble cast. The film also stars Oblivion’s Olga Kurylenko and Danila Kozlovski.
Mead’s best-selling books tell the tale of Rose Hathaway, a teen who has a mental and spiritual bond with her vampire best friend Lissa. The two attend a special school for vampires who are attempting to keep some of their humanity while other of their species are becoming more wild. Filming on Vampire Academy is scheduled to start next week. Byrne is repped by Paradigm. Hyland is repped by WME and RKM and attorney Lev Ginsburg.

Isabelle Huppert [pictured], Gabriel Byrne and Jesse Eisenberg have boarded Norwegian director Joachim Trier’s English-language debut Louder Than Bombs.
The family drama revolves around the character of a famous, late war photographer played by Huppert. On the eve of a retrospective of work, some three years after her untimely death, her husband and two sons discover an unsettling secret from her past.
Byrne will play the husband and Eisenberg one of the sons.
”Louder Than Bombs is a character-driven piece so I am obviously thrilled to have such incredible actors working with me on this,” Trier commented. “Isabelle, Jesse, and Gabriel are all actors I have wanted to work with for a long time, so having them play together as one family feels remarkable.”
Trier co-wrote the script with his long-time collaborator Eskil Vogt. The film will shoot in the US and Germany this autumn.
Louder Than Bombs is being produced by Sigve Endresen and co-produced by Hans Jørgen Osnes, both from Oslo-based Motlys, which produced Trier’s Oslo August 31st.
It is co-production between France, Norway, Denmark, Germany, and the US. Alexandre Mallet-Guy’s Memento Films Production will produce and distribute in France, partnering with Heino Deckert’s German Majade Films, andBo Ehrhardt’s Danish Nimbus Film.
Bona Fide Productions’ Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa will produce from the United States.
The film is also backed by the Norwegian Film Institute, the Danish Film Institute, and the Nordic Film and TV fund. Norsk Fimsdistribusjon will distribute in Norway, with Nordisk taking Denmark and Triart handling Sweden.
Memento Films International will handle world sales, partnering with UTA on the North American sale. MFI’s Emilie Georges and Nicholas Shumaker executive produce, alongside Joshua Asterchan and Frederick W. Green of New York-based Animal Kingdom.
Bafta-winning Isabelle Huppert is represented by CAA and Voyez Mon Agent and managed by Principal Entertainment.
